Here is a little bit of an update of what is currently happening at ActiveWin. The server is now built completely. The specs are below. Thanks so much for your suggestions earlier. From what we learned, ECC memory did not work with the Abit motherboard even though the memory manufacturer said it did, and that we couldn't buy a HP CD-RW because they weren't compatible with Win2k Server/Advanced Server. We've decided to go with Windows 2000 Server as the OS, along with SQL Server 2000 and Exchange 2000.

The dedicated T-1 line has been installed and all I'm waiting for is my router from Sprint. Will is finishing configuring the software and taking pictures for his article, then he'll fedex it up to me and we'll connect it, run some tests on the IP address, and start the DNS changeover when we're rest assured there will be no problems.

As for the forum, it is now well underway in development. It looks pretty nice in fact after Byron put his good skills to test by doing a new design (even though it will remain the same as the rest of the site, basically so no radical changes). While the SQL is being designed, we're figuring out which new images will be needed so Cliff can work his magic, and trying to pick a name for the new site (even though it will be streamlined with Activewin) probably Active Network Forums or something like that. Suggestions are welcome.

The features for the forums and comments are nice. Customizable colors and fonts. You will be able to use bold, italics, underline, and paragraphs in comment messages. Also, the comments will be trackable from the search engine so you don't have lose track of a really good string. We'll implement cookies, so you can save your username/pass to automatically log in if you like. More details on the features later, but I promise it will be nice! 1000 times better than the current MSN community we have.
