You are invited to test the new Windows Live Mail and Windows Live Search betas for Mobile! Depending on your interest, you can test the Mail beta or the Search beta or both. Here are some brief descriptions of the beta products. Mail beta Designed from the ground up to make e-mail on your phone or PDA streamlined and easy, Windows Live Mail beta for Mobile will let you: • Stay in touch when on the go • At a glance, see both an e-mail subject and the sender's name • See many of your messages on the screen at once • Compose e-mail quickly with Address AutoComplete • Search for a contact in your address book and view full personal details Search beta Largely based on the feedback we received from beta testers, Windows Live Search for mobile has been improved: • Save search results to your device • Use Local Search to find the nearest gas station, the nearest restaurant, the nearest whatever • See 10 results displayed neatly within your device's screen • See business names displayed with phone numbers, address, and approximate distance • View an easy-to-read map to your destination, and detailed driving directions • Click on any of the results to be connected instantly to their phone Hardware requirements: To participate in this beta, your mobile phone must be Web-enabled with a color screen. In addition, it needs to have a browser that supports xHTML (WAP 2.x), cHTML (iMode), or HTML. You won't be able to participate in this beta if your phone does not meet these requirements. The determine this quickly, you can go to the web site http://mobile.live.com from your mobile phone. There is a small icon in front of the service "Windows Live Mail beta" and the "Windows Live Search beta". If you can see these icon correctly, your device is supported. If you don't see this icon or if only an "X" is displayed, you will not be able to use this service properly. How to sign up We have moved to a NEW Beta site, so the directions below are going to be a little different than what you have been used to. We are excited to be offering you a new and improved experience over our old system! Please note: You must follow these directions. Using a personal or a Beta ID previously assigned for the old BetaPlace will NOT grant you access to this site. 1. Go to http://connect.microsoft.com and sign in with your .NET Passport if you're not already signed in. 2. On the left hand Navigation page, click "Available Programs" and select "Windows Live beta for Mobile (USA)" program. 3. Review the Term of Use. Then click the I Agree button to accept the Terms Of Use. You will then be taken to the Registration page. 4. Fill in the Registration information and click on the "Register" button. You will then be taken to the My Participation page. 5. Fill out the Nomination Survey and submit. 6. In the section labeled "My Participation", your status will show "pending" for site "Windows Live Mobile beta". 7. We will review your survey results. If you are approved, your status will change to "Active" and you can start participation in the beta. 8. You will also receive a Welcome e-mail.
