  Microsoft Garners HD-DVD Support

The DVD Forum, the committee in charge of developing specifications for the DVD format, has announced provisional approval for three video technologies for the next generation of DVD support. The group has endorsed the Microsoft Windows Media Video (WMV) 9.0 format, H.264, and MPEG-2 as mandatory for players that will support HD-DVD video.
