You can now buy iChat AV from the Apple Store for US$29.95. The video conferencing software is bundled free with Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther), which costs $129 at the Apple Store. iChat AV requires Mac OS X 10.2.5 (Mac OS X 10.2.8 or later and QuickTime 6.4 are recommended). The software introduces audio and video conferencing to Apple's instant messaging application. It sports full screen video, full duplex audio and a setup that require absolutely no configuration. Video and audio devices are detected automatically, and there are no drivers to install. Your video and audio settings are automatically optimized based on available bandwidth. If you're running the iChat AV beta that Apple made available in July, it expires Dec. 31. | ||
