Microsoft Hires Top Motorola Executive To Be Greater China CEO | |

Timothy Chen, the former top China executive of Motorola Inc. , has resigned to take a senior position at Microsoft Corp. , the companies said Monday. At Microsoft, Chen will hold the newly created position of chief executive for the Greater China region, where he will be responsible for supervising all of the company's business lines. He will start Sept. 1. The move will leave Motorola, at least for the moment, without a full-time chief for its China operations, which include major manufacturing businesses that generated $5.7 billion of the company's $27.3 billion in 2002 sales. Motorola said it is still seeking a permanent replacement for Chen as president of Motorola (China) Electronics Ltd., but in the meantime has appointed Ruey Bin Kao as acting president. Kao is Greater China head of the Global Telecom Solutions Sector unit. | ||
