  Plextor announces fastest dual-format DVD-recorder: 8x!

Thanks to the new PX-708A and PX-708UF Plextor DVD writers you can now forget all about the DVD recordable format war. Both drives can indeed be used with both DVD plus and DVD minus formats.

Both DVD recorders can also burn a full DVD disc of 4.7GB in less than ten minutes! Back-ups of your favourite DVDs, your CD collection, photo albums or other data are now made in next to no time at all. The recorders write in DVD plus format at a top speed of 8x and rewrite at 4x. For DVD minus format these speeds are 4x and 2x respectively. DVD- ROMs are read at 12x, and the drives can obviously also be used with CDs. These discs are written and read at 40x with rewriting at 24x.

The Plextor PX-708A/UF will use Buffer Underrun Proof technology (for CDs), Lossless Linking (for DVD+R/RW) and Zero Link technology (for DVD-R/RW). The PX-708A and the PX-708UF drives will be available from the end of August and the end of September 2003 respectively.
