Mitsubishi International Corp., an $8 billion global chemical, energy, machinery, and metals trading company, is building a private logistics network the company expects will save millions by leveraging its multimillion-dollar global spending for transportation. Takashi "Tim" Tsuji, Mitsubishi International's manager for logistics and E-logistics strategy, says the network, to be hosted by logistics software vendor GT Nexus Inc., will tie Mitsubishi International with ocean freight carriers and customers in real time. Under the multimillion-dollar contract announced Monday, the GT Nexus system also will be used to standardize procurement, contracting, and optimization of global ocean freight, and standardize scheduling, booking, and documentation management for Mitsubishi International in Chicago, the primary U.S. subsidiary of Japanese diverse manufacturer Mitsubishi Corp. | ||
