  • DOWNLOAD: waNOCAPS v1.0The only time I have ever bothered to turn on the CAPS LOCK is when entering passwords or something of the sort where everything needs to be in upper case. But it's more of a nuisance than useful. waNOCAPS turns the CAPS LOCK key into a CTRL key, so it receives the same functionality as CTRL. To turn it on, double-click disable_caps.reg. To turn it off, double-click restore_caps.reg. That's all it takes. Those on Win9x - it should work, but it has not been tested.
  • DOWNLOAD: HostsToggle v2.1The Hosts file can help keep your computer from making contact with trackers. Entering IP addresses for such sites into the Hosts file restricts those sites from tracking you. However, in some cases, the Hosts file can interfere while you're safely surfing and downloading. HostsToggle provides an on and off switch so you can manage it with a button click instead of renaming the file each time you run into trouble. The site offers good information about Hosts in general and is worth a read.
  • SYSTEM: Home PC Firewall GuideSome people know that a firewall is a good thing to have in terms of security, but not how to implement one. Others are unclear about the whole firewall business and whether or not it has anything to do with matches (bad pun, sorry). This is an excellent guide for the home, small business, and home office user. Get more than the "Just go install ZoneAlarm and you're cool" advice. Get how-tos for installing and uninstalling firewalls, information about security for Linux, BSD, and PDAs as well as information on anti-virus, anti-spyware, and anti-everything programs. Let the Home PC Firewall Guide be your friendly local sheriff to help you protect yourself from Internet bandits.
