A informative Q&A about Athletic Moves answered by Steve Dupont – lead Animator on the Splinter Cell project. The game are slated for a november release on both PC and Xbox.

What were your inspirations for the moves?

Inspiration from the moves came from a lot of different sources. Certainly many of the moves, like rappelling, were inspired by realistic SWAT tactics. But we also wanted to have a strong action element to the game, so for moves like rolling, the split jump, and forced cooperation/human shield we looked more to action films for new ideas. We wanted to walk a line between realism and more cinematic action.
