Apple Releases Mac OS X Security Update To Prevent Remote Users From Gaining Root Access
Time: 02:04 EST/07:04 GMT | News Source: Mac Observer | Posted By: Byron Hinson

Apple has released a security update for Mac OS X titled simply "Security Update 2003-08-14." The update is intended to fix a security hole that could allow someone to take over your Mac, though Apple's update note is a bit geeky in its explanation:

Security Update 2003-08-14 addresses a potential vulnerability in the fb_realpath() function which could allow a local or remote user to gain unauthorized root privileges to a system.
