Windows Media DRM cracked again | |

The fight against Microsoft Windows Media DRM has been quite
fierce. Viodentia released FairUse4WM 1.1 in August of last year -- Microsoft promptly issued a patch.
FairUse4WM 1.2 and FairUse4WM 1.3
were then released to counter Microsoft's actions. Microsoft was not happy at all to see its DRM efforts
shredded to pieces so it filed
a lawsuit against FairUse4WM's creator. Microsoft dropped the
lawsuit in early April after it was "unable to locate these defendants
through discovery and therefore could not serve them with process." Today, latest chapter in the FairUse4WM saga unfolded. A
user named "Divine Tao" on the Doom9 Forum issued an
update for FairUse4WM 1.3. FairUse4WM 1.3Fix-2 is able to recover individual
keys from Microsoft's Individualized Blackbox component (IBX). According to Divine Tao, v1.3Fix-2 works with all IBX
versions up to 11.0.6000.6324 and also includes a fix for a video corruption
bug. FairUse4WM 1.3Fix-2is compatible
with Windows XP/Vista and Zune media files. | ||
