The news out of Microsoft Tech Ed next week will likely amount to a raft of expected updates including release of Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 1, ISA Server 2004 and maybe, just maybe, beta one of Visual Studio 2005, sources said. As of late Thursday, status of the first real beta of the new Visual Studio toolkit, aka Whidbey, remained day to day. Best-guess estimates from company insiders that it would surface as planned at the show ranged from "likely" to "iffy." A spokeswoman would not comment on beta timing. Whether or not the bits are downloadable by next week, many expect Microsoft to dive more deeply into "Whitehorse" the modeling capabilities that will be part of the new toolset. This capability, in theory, would enable allow corporate developers to work with less-technical business analysts on redefining business processes and thus speeding application development. | ||
