If you've ever had a DVD movie or music CD skip or simply not work because one of your dopey but loveable friends decided to use as a coaster, then you know how fragile those fickle, digital discs can be. And, while it's simple enough to backup most of our music CDs to protect the originals from harm, backing up our DVD movie collection can be a bit trickier. You may want to make extra copies of your movies just to keep the originals safe, to have copies in the car, other rooms, or for traveling; but the movie industry has implemented a monopolistic copy control technology on virtually every DVD movie you buy.
  • DOWNLOAD: Winuscon v1.55 This utility is fabulous since it provides access to just about everything on your system divvied up into these main areas: Menu, Internet, Internet utilities, Office, Accessories, and Settings. The tutorial is excellent and walks you through its capabilities. I've mentioned that I rarely keep programs I review because I'm overwhelmed with too many, but this one may have to stay. The search utility helps detail your search by providing currencies, translations, maps, lyrics, images, and news options. The functionality and features are massive; explore it for yourself. Versions 1.x are free, but the upcoming v2.0 won't be, so take advantage of it now.
  • DOWNLOAD: Samurize v1.1.6Samurize is a system monitoring utility with outstanding configuration power. The configuration program is totally separated from the client for minimal memory usage. The program displays almost any kind of information right on your desktop/taskbar and homepage.
