Intel Boost Pentium 4 Up To 1.8GHz | |

According to several sources, Intel will soon introduce two new Pentium 4 chips clocked at 1.6 & 1.8GHz. These new models will complete the existing Pentium 4 line before the introduction, later this year, of the long awaited Pentium 4 2GHz engraved in 0.13µ. With a Pentium 4 CPU at each 100MHz step, Intel now offers a more complete line of processors so integrators and other PC makers can build more different systems that better fit customers' needs. The next big step for Intel before the introduction of the Pentium 4 2GHz (targeted to be launched in August or September), is the release of the BrookDale chipset. This new chipset aka i845 will enable Pentium 4 systems work with affordable SDRAM memory: if performances will be oviously affected BrookDale will help Intel to increase the volume of Pentium 4 sales. Sources said Intel will unlikely provide a Pentium 4 1.9GHz, because it'll be clearly overshadowed by the Pentium 4 2GHz. | ||
