Microsoft Appeal Heads Into 2nd Day of Arguments | |

Lawyers for the government and Microsoft Corp. head back to the U.S. Court of Appeals on Tuesday for a second day of arguments over the landmark antitrust case. After a tough grilling from the judges on Monday, government lawyers will try to shore up a lower court's ruling that Microsoft abused its monopoly in personal computer operating systems and ought to be split in two to prevent future violations. Microsoft's attorneys, in turn, will try to further undercut the ruling of U.S. District Court Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson. Points of appeal to be discussed on Tuesday include whether Microsoft used its dominance to try and monopolize the Internet browser market and whether the seven-judge appeals panel should uphold Jackson's break-up ruling. | ||
