Microsoft Looks East for European Growth | |

Microsoft Corp. expects annual sales growth of 30 to 40 percent in the fast-growing market of Central and Eastern Europe in 2002, the U.S. software giant's regional chief said on Friday. "We think the growth will be between 30 to 40 percent and will come from the new products like Office XP and Windows XP, from the PC shipment growth and from fighting software piracy which are the key drivers for the growth," said Jan Muhlfeit, Microsoft Regional Director for Central and Eastern Europe. Microsoft sales in the region rose 69 percent in the fiscal first quarter ended September 30, a sharp rise from a growth of 12 to 15 percent in the same period last year, Muhlfeit told Reuters in an interview in the Bulgarian capital Sofia. | ||
