Microsoft took the wraps off its new operating system on Tuesday, promising lucky upgraders fewer system crashes and a new life. "The hyperbole flowed freely" at Microsoft's "full-court press to generate buzz," said MSNBC's Bob Sullivan, especially when Windows chief Jim Allchin called Windows XP "a lifestyle upgrade." Techweb also cited the presentation's "hyperbole and superlatives." ZDNet delivered a more direct insult from an anonymous Whistler beta tester. "This is so sad," said the tester. "They're just lamely trying to copy Steve Jobs' Apple presentation - right down to the guy having a black shirt and black pants." The New York Times said Windows XP "bears striking similarities" to new technologies for the Mac. | ||
