Windows 2000 has been given nine months to live, as far as OEMs are concerned, and Microsoft is pressuring the PC companies to stop offering dual install Win2k/WinXP systems immediately. Microsoft operating systems magically become more expensive and difficult to obtain as soon as there's a new rev out, but so long as the previous version is still available on new PCs via OEMs, business customers have a relatively simple way to stick with their current OS, rather than having to do an expensive rollout of the replacement. | ||

Skeep: What's better with XP?
Well, for one, it boots a heck of a lot faster. RDP is great. New start menu is fantastic, the whole interface is much more configureable. I know many people that got their butts saved from System Restore. There's some nice new stuff with NICs. XP supports software bridging of networks, built-in firewall (for standalone machines), more IPSec stuff. You can actually configure one NIC to have 2 separate profiles, if you will, which allow you to have 2 IP's on one NIC. Support for smartcard and MD5 authentication built right into the network properties. There were certain things that were just, shall I say, laggy in Win2k that XP has fixed. Support for IRQ stacking. A (Great) new help system. Windows Messenger has some great features. Personally, I found that sometimes 2k didn't want to authenticate with my domain when installing it and had to do it manually after install, XP doesn't have that problem. ClearType is something that's very nice to have for LCD's. Oh my goodness! an astounding post dude. Thank you Even so I am experiencing issue with ur rss . Do not know why Unable to subscribe to it. Is there anyone finding identical rss problem? Anybody who knows kindly respond. Thnkx
