Windows announced new Windows 8.1 features specific to the enterprise audience that builds on the vision to bring a more powerful and modern computing experience to businesses and professionals, including:
- Networking – Windows 8.1 improves mobile productivity for today’s workforce with SoC-integrated (system-on-a-chip) mobile broadband, native Miracast wireless display, and NFC-based pairing with enterprise printers.
- Security – Security is enhanced in the new update to address device proliferation and protect corporate data and applications with fingerprint-based biometrics, multi-factor authentication on tablets, and remote business data removal to securely wipe company data from a device.
- Improved management capabilities – Windows 8.1 gives customers more flexibility with supported options like System Center Configuration Manager 2012 R2 and new mobile device management (MDM) solutions with third-party MDM partners, in addition to Windows Intune.
- More control – Windows 8.1 gives businesses more control over their devices to deliver an intended experience to their end users with Assigned Access, which enables a single Windows Store application experience on a device, like a customer service app at a retail store.
