| #39, I'm still saying your argument only works if you believe the MS line--that it was dying, and that was the motivation--I think the record clearly establishes it was a retaliatory strike at a viable competitor. MS had to go to extreme lengths to explain how Apple was dying--they were pathetic and laughable excuses backed up by nearly zero evidence--i could cite them, but I try to restrain from going back to Penfield's decision, and I just got done teaching soda what an app server is... so maybe you want to check them out yourself, and you can tell me if you believe that Apple was about to die, or if Microsoft was poorly explaining away retaliation. |

| I thought we were only discussing whether Apple was a viable enough business in 97 to survive a Microsoft threat. I think NeXT software revenue would be very relevant. I also thought you were trying to focus on Macs in the office--I wasn't talking about the consumer. Only on the PC platform are these considered expensive apps--on the Mac platform, even lowly home users enjoy buying a quality product for $300 to $600 dollars. Of 8 current Mac users I know, only one doesn't have Photoshop at home. |
