With the business launch of Windows Vista on November 30, 2006, and the general release of the operating system on January 30, 2007, Microsoft introduced a variety of changes compared to Windows XP. The fact of the matter is that Vista brings to the table an evolved infrastructure over Windows XP. And this detail has a direct impact on the deployment process of the platform. End users are less affected by the architectural evolution of Vista, the corporate environment being impacted the most. The first thing that users should be aware of when migrating to Windows Vista is the size of the operating system's images. While XP images could be limited to a maximum of 700 MB, the same is not the case with Vista. Once installed, the latest Microsoft operating system will have a footprint of over 5 GB, but just a compressed image of Vista can be in excess of 2 GB. | ||

Vista is a really great OS. Does it use more resources than previous version of Windows? Sure. But if you really want, you can disable the features that use the majority of those resources. (Composited desktop, aero, etc.)
What you'll have left is Windows with awesome built in search, dramatically improved security, dozens of low level and innovative kernel improvements, brand new networking capabilities such as Teredo, and literally hundreds of other improvements that put Windows ahead of everybody else. Or, you could get a grip and spend the $100 it costs to snag another GB of ram and a modern DX9 graphics card and enjoy the pretty graphics too. | #25 Thanks for the advice, I tried it but no luck. I am going to try to install Vista on another HD and run it for few weeks without Office 2007 and Quickbooks 2007 and see if there are improvements. |

#26 IMO, 2GB of RAM and two NVidia 8800 GTX should be enough to play Ghost Recon 2; ufortunately the game freeze one or two secs several times/minute.
I hope SP1 will help Not that Iam crazy for shooting games though; my first and only love are modern combat flight sims but right now there is nothing coming. . |
