Firefox users ignore online ads, report says | |

Internet Explorer users are at least four times as likely to click on Web ads than Firefox users, a German advertising technology company said last week. The company, Adtech, found that during October and November, only 0.11 percent of Firefox users ever clicked on an ad, compared with around 0.5 percent of IE users. The percentage of IE users clicking on ads varied depending on which version of the browser was being used, the company said: from 0.44 percent of version 6.x users to 0.53 percent of version 5.5 users. The survey was based on 1,000 Web sites in Europe that use Adtech's ad server. | ||

If you download from the site that I gave you, you do not have to edit the xpi. If you download an extension that does not work because of version change, sometimes you can just edit the xpi file and change the version numbers in it to make it accept it. The users at Extension Mirror keep the files up to date :) Not sure if you can change the link for the extension manager, it would be nice if you could.

Hal, as for encouraging the development, have you gone through the miles and miles and billions lines of code and articles at msdn.microsoft.com? That is one of the LARGEST, if not the LARGEST Developer networks out there, including the massive .NET community sponsored by Microsoft. Microsoft encourages development, believe me.
You say MS should take a cue from it's customers. They have, and continue to do so. They implemented consumer needs in IE6 SP2 for XP, concentrating on security more than anything. It's the consumer and the competition that has brought back the IE team for IE7. I do feel that they should be more proactive instead of reactive. But none the less, they are not going to sit back and watch their market penetration tumble. They already acknowledge open source as competition. And that is good for Microsoft and the consumer. I hope to see less and less monopoly lawsuits now that their is competition out there. |
