The Mplayer Entertainment Network, the largest online advertising network targeting tech-savvy entertainment enthusiasts, announced the launch of an innovative co-marketing campaign for Taco Bell and Microsoft® Xbox(TM), created by Foote, Cone & Belding of San Francisco. After ten days of teasers, the full campaign debuts today and will run across several sites in the network, including GameSpy.com, FilePlanet.com, Planet XBOX, and Planet HalfLife, through October 28.
Designed to promote an Xbox gaming system giveaway at nationwide Taco Bell locations, the campaign uses a variety of online advertising techniques and technologies to generate excitement for and awareness of the contest. Foote, Cone & Belding crafted the campaign to achieve Taco Bell's objective of gaining credibility and traction within the gaming community. Users first encounter the campaign through a 5-10 second pop-up ad that greets them as they log on to selected sites in the network. In the ad, a blue hot rod, motor gunning, zooms across the page as the Xbox logo and the tagline ``The Xbox Era Has Begun at Taco Bell'' appear in the center. After the ad times out, visitors automatically enter the site.
