Universal Studios Home Video's March 18 release of 8 Mile -- the studio's $120 million top-grossing film is proving to be one of the hottest DVDs ever, centered around a provocative examination of a critical week in one man's life -- is proving to be one of the hottest DVDs ever, literally flying off retailers' shelves. Consumers are demanding their DVD faster than supplies last, according to industry sources. "On the first day of sales, 8 Mile generated consumer spending of almost $40 million. We are thrilled that the day one results have greatly exceeded our expectations. The '8 Mile' DVD is showing the same momentum as The Fast and the Furious DVD, which went on to rank among the top-ten selling DVDs of 2002," said Craig Kornblau, president, Universal Studios Home Video.
The 8 Mile DVD, available in both censored and uncensored versions, contains special bonus features for millions of Eminem fans, including exclusive, never-before-seen rap battle outtakes and Eminem's steamy new video, "Superman," both available only on the 8 Mile DVD.
