Microsoft, Amazon among American companies targeted in European boycott | |

Microsoft Corp. of Redmond and Amazon.com Inc. of Seattle are among American companies listed by a European group critical of the U.S.-led war in Iraq.
The group, calling itself Consumers Against War, has posted a list of American companies whose products they are boycotting on a Web site. Among those companies are American corporate giants, including Coca-Cola Co., Microsoft Corp., General Electric Co., Philip Morris International, McDonald's Corp., Pfizer, Levi Strauss, PepsiCo, Texaco, Apple Computer and Procter & Gamble.
Conspicuously missing from the list is Starbucks Corp., which has been expanding in Europe and which has often found itself the target of protesters and advocates of various worldwide issues.
"Let's go on boycotting American products and thus the American economy, which is responsible for this war," the group said on its Web site.

There is an old saying... don't worry about the splinter in your brothers eye when you have a log within your own. If Republicans want us to rally behind this President for the good of the nation, they can start by apologizing for the way they treated President Clinton. Or at the very least they can lay off the mindless accusations, including the accusations that he was responsible for 9/11. As to the protests... I've never been a fan of protests, I think they are largely a waste of time. However I can understand the anger, again because our govt has earned a severe level of distrust. Since Vietnam. That level of distrust was further eroded by the Bush administration by not allowing a fair election recount in 2000, and by their secretive nature. "That is a shame. With freedom comes responsibility. " You're right, but that's another complaint I have against Bush. Halliburton was chosen to rebuild Iraqi oil fields through a secretive process. Rather then sending out a public request for proposals, they sent out a private one only to the top republican campaign contributors. All this secretive nonsense did was further erode trust in the administration and give fuel to the critics. One thing you learn early on in politics is to be proactive. If doing something in a certain way will give the appearance of bias, then you don't do it in that manner and you find another way which will allay the fears of the critics. |

Interesting, but yet you felt you had to give your political view, even if you couldn't provide any rationale for why you felt that way. Change begins at home. The only reason I post political crap here is because I keep getting subjected to political crap from Neo-Conservatives. You want me to stop, then you get them to stop. This is the point I made to bluvg... There will be no one-sided armistice. I will not give up my rights and freedoms because you are uncomfortable and unwilling to read opposing points of view. "Implying that just because I don't want to read your liberal quotations with my technical news because it "might upset my view of the world" is astoundingly idiotic. " And you can start by not insulting people just because you disagree with them. |

I certainly agree. These discussions infuriate me. BobSmith - I didn't insult Pixel, I merely pushed the point he was already making home to it's logical conclusion. |
