Gives a whole new meaning to modding and fans. A YELLOW VAN powered by the sun, a windmill and batteries is on the road in Northallerton, North Yorkshire.
The van has a range of 30 miles with a cruising speed of 30 miles an hour and a maximum speed of 40 miles per hour. The inventor, Peter Perkins, says his van, which has a Windows based dashboard, wasn't cheap to build, with the components totalling 5,000 or so. The base vehicle only cost him 250, the motor 750, the batteries 750, the controller 500, the charger 500, the solar cells 1,000 and other bits and pieces another 2,000.
