Reaching up to the ceiling in Hudson River Park’s Pier 57 is a massive, stylized version of Manhattan, with a downtown towering up to 15 feet and avenues wide enough to walk through. On the rooftops are hundreds of Windows 8 touch devices including the new Microsoft Surface. A huge sun illuminates the city and the surrounding walls, casting gorgeous city shadows that reach across the installation.
Within the experience there is the delight of exploring New York. Windows 8 is personal to the user, but in this space it is tailored by neighborhood, with notable New Yorkers personalizing the experiences with photos, links, people and more.
Along with the general exhibit there are a series of special programmed events that take place within the space.
