Flexstorm, manufacturer of storage media, is presenting at the CeBIT - according to its own account - the world's first flexible compact disc. According to Flexstorm the FlexCD is light, good value and above all to be produced more quickly than a conventional CD.
The compact disc has been developed by a subsidiary company of Bertelsmann AG and provides the seizure of customary CDs at a thickness of only 0,1 millimeters - that is the tenth part of customary CDs. Furthermore the new polyester-based CDs are to be produced ten times as fast as polycarbonate discs. To use the FlexCD in conventional CD players one has to insert it into an adapter.
