Nvidia’s previously withheld graphics chip GeForce4 Ti 4200 is expected to appear on the market at the end of April, according to the chip designer. The move suggests that the company’s inventories of GeForce3 Ti500 and GeForce3 Ti200 chips should be consumed by late April.
According to the company’s original roadmap, the NV25 core-based GeForce4 Ti 4200 was supposed to be launched in February along with other NV25 and NV17 core-based GeForce4 chips. However, considering the possible sales impact on the GeForce3 Ti series and the new GeForce4 MX460 chips, Nvidia quietly withdrew the roll-out at the last minute.
