FCC gives nod to ultrawideband wireless | |

The Federal Communications Commission in a controversial decision on Thursday approved the commercial use of "ultrawideband" technology. UWB technology provides a faster and more secure way of sending wireless transmissions. Automakers could use the technology to build collision avoidance systems or improve airbags. Firefighters, police officers and emergency personnel could use it to detect what is behind walls, buried underground or even inside the human body. Consumer products, from laptops to personal digital assistants, could use the equipment to send and receive video or audio. | ||
