Blockbuster Inc. (NYSE:BBI - news), the world's largest video rental chain, is considering retailing of video and game players with other home electronics in its stores, a spokeswoman said Thursday.
``When you combine the strength of our brand and the strength of our store distribution network, it lends itself to the sale of consumer electronics,'' said Karen Raskopf, Blockbuster senior vice president for corporate communications.
The chain experimented with the limited-time sale of DVD-VHS combination video players in 2,000 of its 7,800 stores. During the past holiday season, Blockbuster sold DVD players for $129 with vouchers at all its stores. Raskopf said the sale met with strong consumer response.
