Storage-management software maker Veritas Software has purchased the Kernel Group, whose software automatically reinstalls and reconfigures Microsoft and Unix operating systems, making it faster to restore servers after a disaster such as the attacks on the World Trade Center.
Veritas announced the news Tuesday. Financial details were not disclosed.
The acquisition was centered around Kernel's Bare Metal Restore software product, which enables computer technicians to quickly restore Microsoft and Unix operating systems after natural disasters or technical and hardware failures.
