- DOWNLOAD: Xplanet v1.0.3 [1.9M] Win2k/XP FREE This is a command-line based program for Windows that renders maps of planets and the solar system depending on the commands entered. To get an idea of what to do, go into DOS mode and find the xplanet folder. From there, enter something like, "xplanet -body earth" sans quote and a crystal clear map of the Earth appears on the desktop. The included batch file xplanet.bat has some sample commands you can run to see how Xplanet works. Space geeks will have fun with this one. It should be able to work on Win9x, but it was only tested in 2k and XP.
- DOWNLOAD: GanttProject v1.9.10 [3.8M] Win9x/2k/XP FREE A Java-based program, GanttProject is a good substitute for Microsoft Project. It may have fewer features, but sometimes simple is better. Add resources, tasks, milestones, and link / unlink tasks. Having used MS Project, the learning curve for GanttProject was practically nil. Those who haven't crossed paths with MS Project should have an easier time learning GanttProject than MS Project. The interface is sharp-dressed and easy on the eyes.
