Thanks, BobSmith. Microsoft confirmed on Friday that it is looking to update its server operating system before the release of next major version of Windows but offered few details on what the new software release will contain.
The upgrade is planned ahead of Longhorn--the next major version of Windows. Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates first mentioned the release in an interview with CNET News.com, published Monday.
"We will have a new server release that will likely come up before Longhorn," Gates said. Until Friday, though, Microsoft had declined to expand on his comments.
