Microsoft said on Wednesday it was examining a new statement by the European Commission (news - web sites) on its probe of the software giant, but said it was unfortunate that the three-year-old probe would now take longer.
"We are examining its contents thoroughly now to assess the concerns in detail," said spokeswoman Tiffany Steckler in Paris.
She said the company believes "it is somewhat unfortunate as it lengthens the proceedings that have already been going on for three years."
Nonetheless, she said, "We take this investigation very seriously and will work hard to focus our efforts, responding to concerns and bringing this to a positive resolution.
