Eidos is having one last wring of the Tomb Raider PSone sponge, re-releasing two of the game’s myriad sequels (Tomb Raider III and The Last Revelation) as a special double-pack. Starting October 25th, you will be able to pick up these two charming slices of Lara’s history for £14.99. However, this offer is apparently only available in the UK, so our continental chums will have to go short.
The unimaginatively named Tomb Raider III: Adventures of Lara Croft was originally released in November 1998, and sees Lara on the search for mysterious artefacts fashioned from an ancient meteorite. Stages include jungles, ice cap, rooftops, deserts and military installations.
By December 1999 when Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation was released, Eidos has dispensed with numbers, and The Last Revelation dispensed with belief, as Lara unlocked an ancient god called Set and had to undo his work ahead of Armageddon. Stages include deserts, deserts and some other areas (we forget).
If you’re anything approaching a casual action-adventure fan, then these two games represent a demanding albeit largely uninspiring challenge, and really are quite a steel at £14.99.
Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness, the long awaited, much publicised, (and by the hardcore largely ostracised) sequel is supposedly still on course for release later this year, although Eidos has yet to confirm the game’s release date.
