RosettaNet implementers got another option for off-the-shelf software packages this week with an updated version of the BizTalk Accelerator for RosettaNet.
Version 2 of the integration platform includes support for all current RosettaNet PIPs, or partner interface processes, as well as a slew of tools for easier deployment and management.
RosettaNet is a set of standards for high-tech manufacturers and their trading partners to automate key business processes over the Internet.
RosettaNet backers have been pushing for easier-to-implement -- and frankly, cheaper -- RosettaNet solutions to help drive the technology deeper into the supply chain. Companies that are not at the top-tier of the high-tech supply chain -- beyond the Ciscos and Intels -- have had difficulty supporting at-times complex deployment scenarios.
Microsoft has scored some big early users of its RosettaNet platform, including Intel and Flextronics. Contract manufacturer Flextronics appreciates BizTalk's support for RosettaNet, XML, and traditional EDI protocols, according to James Simpson, senior director of e-business at Flextronics.
