Microsoft Corp., the world’s largest software maker, said it will delete Internet Protocol addresses associated with search queries after six months to comply with demands from European Union privacy regulators.
The changes, incorporated into searches on the company’s Bing search engine, reduce the time data are held from 18 months, John Vassallo, Microsoft’s vice president of EU affairs, said at a briefing in Brussels today. The new policy will be implemented within the next 12 to 18 months.
