NOPI (Number One Parts, Inc.) today announced a partnership with Universal Studios Consumer Products Group to launch the NOPI "The Fast and The Furious" Racing Series. The drag race series, governed by the NDRA (NOPI Drag Racing Association), is the newest, innovative racing series that combines the highest payouts in professional drag racing per event with the largest compact auto show in the United States.
NOPI also announced a deal with Xbox(TM), Microsoft's future-generation video game system, as Series Sponsor for the inaugural season of the NOPI "The Fast and the Furious" Racing Series. Besides pride and big payouts, the country's top drag racers will compete for the Xbox Cup, the year-end trophy awarded to the top points winner of the NDRA (NOPI Drag Racing Association).
In addition to receiving title rights, the multi-year deal between Universal Studios Consumer Products Group and NOPI is intended to include co-branded merchandise and props from the $145 million blockbuster film, "The Fast and the Furious" at all NOPI races and events. Products will include, apparel and various other souvenir items.
The Microsoft deal will include the coveted Xbox Cup for the Series winner, as well as a full, onsite interactive gaming area at each NOPI "The Fast and The Furious" Racing Series event featuring Microsoft Game Studios' RalliSport Challenge and Project Gotham Racing. Xbox will also receive title sponsorship at the premier event in the series and the largest compact auto show in the United States, the NOPI NATIONALS Motorsports Supershow.
