Fans of The Twilight Zone will soon be in the zone — in triplicate. All three incarnations of the fabled sci-fi TV series are coming to DVD:
- The original series, hosted by Rod Serling and featuring such guest stars as Telly Savalas, Robert Redford and Vera Miles, that ran from 1959 through 1965.
- The 1985 update, with episodes written by Steven Bochco (NYPD Blue) and J. Michael Straczynski (Babylon 5).
- The latest entry, which bowed on UPN in 2002, with host Forest Whitaker and a bevy of hip young guest stars, including Jessica Simpson and Molly Sims.
All 152 episodes of the original The Twilight Zone are now being prepped for release by Image Entertainment. Plans call for five "complete season" sets, with the first one coming out Dec. 28 and the rest rolling out through 2005.
Image will release all 63 episodes of the mid-1980s Twilight Zone as well, with season one ($70) also slated for release Dec. 28. Seasons 2 and 3 will be packaged together in one box set ($70) slated for release in March.
New Line Home Entertainment, meanwhile, has assembled all 43 episodes of the contemporary series in a six-disc DVD set, arriving in stores Sept. 7 ($60).
