It was all giggles and light when comedian Jay Leno took the Consumer Electronics
Show stage last month to help Microsoft's Bill Gates introduce the latest features
of his company's MSN service. But behind the scenes in Las Vegas, the rollout of
MSN Premium -- a $9.95-per-month add-on for anyone with a broadband connection --
was anything but a laughing matter. Market leader America Online has already debuted
AOL for Broadband, a zippy package of broadband services for $14.95 per month.
