VIA Technologies, a leading chipset designer based in Taiwan, announced on August 1 that its July revenues totaled NT$1.657 billion, up 44% from June and significantly beating market estimates, according to the company.
The company did not disclose reasons for the increase, but analysts believe strong K7 motherboard sales were the major contributing factor for VIA’s revenue growth. August is projected to bring even higher revenues with strong sales of VIA’s PT800 chipset, analysts added.
One such order placed by a single motherboard manufacturer is to be over one million units of VIA’s PT800 chipset, according to sources, with partial fulfillment in August.
