After a good year's worth of "coming soon" purgatory, the long-anticipated Xbox Live version of Sega GT 2002 has finally been granted an official U.S. release announcement. Sega gave out the first details and screens for the online upgrade today, a fully stand-alone racer that's due out this fall in the U.S.
Sega GT Online, the name of the new product, works exactly the same as the original—starting with the wussiest of GT vehicles, you've got to earn licenses, enter races, and use the prize money to buy extra parts and cars. The only difference lies in the online support: up to six people can join a race at once, and you'll be able to trade and bet cars with other gamers, similar in style to Capcom's Auto Modellista.
