So what's the always amazing Microsoft going to do in 2003? Heck if I know, but here are a few of my best guesses:
1. Longhorn betas will fly fast and furious next year - but they will be lacking a number of features we thought were supposed to be in there.
We've already heard promises (from Microsoft honchos and anonymous tipsters, alike) regarding Longhorn's object file system, its data storage/access model, its completely rewritten "Avalon" Win32 programming model, its built-in self-healing capabilities and a shiny, new DRM system. But if Microsoft is really going to deliver this puppy in 2004, I bet a bunch of these features won't debut before Blackcomb server (think 2006).
