PC games publisher ARUSH Entertainment announced today that it's signed a deal with Playboy Enterprises to develop and publish a series of games based on the Playboy brand. The first game, set to be developed by Groove Publishing (last game: Incoming Forces), will hit the PC, PlayStation 2 and Xbox in 2004.
"We're delighted to work with ARUSH and Groove to develop this game and provide the Playboy audience with a new and exciting way to interact with our brand," said Alex Vaickus, president of global licensing for Playboy. "This deal marks Playboy's entry into the video game category and is a significant breakthrough for us as we expand the licensing of our brand in the entertainment arena."
Details haven't been fully sorted out yet (they've just begun development, after all), but ARUSH's first Playboy game will be a business empire-building simulation—a "Playboy Tycoon," if you will. You'll have a chance to build your own publishing company for the sophisticated male, living the life of Hef himself and showing those lowlife smutmongers who really rules the adult industry. Presumably. It'll likely be late 2003 before we see this game in action, so hang in there.
