Microsoft Corp. said Tuesday that 10,000 consumers are now online with a trial, or beta, roll-out of Xbox Live, an online subscription service that the Redmond software maker will launch Nov. 15 for its 1-year-old Xbox video game console. The Xbox Live service will include a headset, memory card, and at least one game for $50 per year, which buys online gaming with up to 16 friends -- if they have high-speed Internet connections. On Aug. 27, Sony launched online gaming for its No. 1 PlayStation 2, which requires the purchase of an adaptor, but no subscription. The service works with both high-speed and slower dial-up service.
