Project Hurricane
Corey Gouker, Mark Johnston, and Dominic Hopton announce the release of Project Hurricane 1.0.

"Project Hurricane is an online community portal built using the .NET Framework. It is an easily deployable skinnable community for students by students...which enables student clubs and societies (or anyone in fact) to set up their own community site which has a wealth of useful and fun features: Blogging, Forums, Articles, Polls to mention but a few. It has been designed with ease of use and future development in mind and we would like to get as many people using it as possible. "
Corey also made a PDC countdown clock for the Windows taskbar.

PDC Bloggers Panel Q&A
The Panel Q&A is your opportunity to submit questions to Microsoft architects and developers. You can submit questions to any of the 15 panels occuring on Thursday at PDC. Readers will have a chance to vote on what questions are most important. The most important questions determined by your votes will be answered during the panel sessions on Thursday. Other questions that readers decide are important will be answered through out the week. The answers will be posted back to this site where you'll have the opportunity to vote on how well the answer addresses the question. Submit your questions now! OS X and Longhorn
Robert Scoble discusses Apple's pre-PDC shipping of OS X in Apple shipping new OS right before PDC.
"Apple is pointing out they are shipping now, but Longhorn won't ship for a couple of years. Apple is asking us �when you gonna ship Longhorn?� Wrong question. if I were in the industry, I'd have a list of questions for both Microsoft and Apple to answer. For instance: Can we make personal computers better? I mean, dramatically better? (Define better however you want: more productive, lower TCO, easier to use, more secure, what other metrics would you use to define better?)"

He also mentions that Longhorn won't be NDAed for the PDC nor for the beta.

"At the PDC there will be no NDA. [Longhorn] will be widely distributed to hundreds of thousands of developers. When we go into beta next year (remember, the PDC is a developer preview, which is a fancy name for an alpha) a TON more people will get it. No NDA. We want people to try it, and give us feedback either pro or con."
