Next MS Office? Here's what I'd add--and delete | |

If you were responsible for building Microsoft Office, what would you do with the next version? This is a constant question at Microsoft, where they generally think a couple of releases ahead but still end up cramming in a bunch of last-minute changes to keep up with the current market. I don't know the precise schedule, but I'd expect the next release of Office to show up in a year or less. That means there's still plenty of time to make such late changes--and I have a few I'd like to suggest. | ||

On point 1. Take out Access, or at least make it a part of a different version...
http://www.microsoft.com/office/howtobuy/choosing.asp It's called Office Standard. If you want Access that's part of Office Professional. On point 5. Heh. sort of like VS.NET :) On point 6. I can see being able to consume web services, but not create them. |

| I'd remove all Office Assistants. THey're just plain annoying. |

| Jagged, if you do a full install of Office XP you get Office Assistant. Following the tree view he lives in Microsoft Office | Office Shared Features | Office Assistant. You have to be careful (as with previous version of Office) to not install him when you run setup. |

| Well if you perform a standard install you get one character but you can choose to make it disappear thr first time it shows up. I mean it is not a big deal now. Btw do you remeber Bob? That was really terrible. |
