#8 the Toshiba e740 is now available though it is having problem with its built-in 802.11b, and Toshiba's tech support has not been brief with the new model -- by the way there are three different type of e740 (PPC w/ Bluetooth, PPC w/ 802.11b, and PPC only)
The Fujitsu-Siemen's Pocket Loox was supposedly available last month, but it was pushed back until July -- September time frame due to technical issues.
#9 the external design of the new iPaq was not changed. In fact it will be called the HP iPaq Smart Device.
#11 not only that they we're bought because of compatibility with Windows but the familiarity with Windows, and the fact that you can create / edit xls & doc files, access your email, this becomes the device of choice. I support PDAs in an enterprise environment, and believe me it is a lot easier to support PPCs than Palms. PPCs are making head way on the enterprise market, and this also prompted Dell to look in to producing their own PPC device -- hopefully it would be available by the holiday season.
FYI ...Toshiba has a PPC device that has a 4" screen in Japan. Look for it to arrive by the end of the year under the brand of Audiovox. Acer and Asus also developed the thinest PPC out there, unfortunately the devices are not available in the US (for the moment). All of them has Xscale processor.
