Microsoft's iron grip on the Web browser market has slipped ever so slightly since the release of new products from rivals Mozilla and Netscape Communications, Web researcher OneStat.com reported Monday. For the month ended June 21, 95.3 percent of all Web surfers used various versions of Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser to access Web sites included in the survey. That's down 1.3 percent from the previous month, Amsterdam-based OneStat said. Netscape 7.0 was used by 0.3 percent of the sample. Released by AOL Time Warner division Netscape last month, it helped push the browser's overall showing to 3.4 percent, a gain of 0.6 percent. <%=GetPoll(33)%> | ||

It's sad when C|Net WANTS MS to fail so bad that they'll print stories like this. 0.4%? That's not even worth talking about! Let alone running a story saying that Microsoft's "iron grip" is slipping.

I haven't tried Mozilla 1.0 yet. Have to setup a new VMware environment to test it in, as I'm concerned it will go off installing something that destabilizes my system.
I don't care about cookies... I just want an add-on to IE which eliminates popups. I'd also like to know how the add-on works, some of them seem to work in peculiar ways. |

I don't think it ends here.
Mozilla is a damned FINE browser/email package. It's tabbed browsing/grouped bookmarking features make for the most efficient browsing to date, and it's email client is about as powerful as anything else out there, and even more flexible that most in some area's. I like Outlook, but it never ceases to piss me off at least once a day for some reason or another. TL |
